2015 was a year of ups and downs. To the lovely and charming staff of Gamer Giving, it’s been a rollercoaster of a year. From the first 24-hour stream where we had utterly no idea what we were doing, to sending form after form to a nameless U.S. governmental organisation, we’ve been fortunate to learn a lot in 2015.
I personally have had the chance to interact with some fantastic and dedicated people. Stephen, Travis, Captain Murphy, Problems, Bemad…you’ve inspired me to become better in both my personal and professional life. And Loblec…well, you’ve inspired me to think up some creative and unique ways of yelling at someone. And that’s the most valuable thing I could ever thank anyone for.
I asked the Gamer Giving crew for their favourite moments of the last 12 months. Here’s what they had to offer:
“My favorite moment of 2015 was probably the overnight section of our Shadowrun stream. The whole crew was on deck and I’m pretty sure I laughed until I died. In a good way. We (poorly) role-played our characters to the fullest. It’s amazing that we get to have so much fun and help people while we’re at it.” – Stephen
“The one moment of 2015 that stands out in my mind? Well, it’d have to be when me, Problems, and Murphy were playing Rocket League. Murph had to take a phone call, but he was still playing, just had muted himself, so me and Problems were talking, trying to entertain, and winning. And by winning, I mean I kept making and stealing goals from Murphy. After about half an hour of me being ‘Mr. Steal yo’ Goal’, he comes back on the mic saying “YOU SON OF A BITCH!” and ranting for the next 5 minutes about how he couldn’t do anything but seethe in rage while he was on the phone, peppered with insults about my person, and I’m just dying laughing with Problems. I couldn’t breath I was laughing so much. That, was an awesomely funny night.” – Bemad
“My favorite moment of 2015 was the moment I fell asleep after staying up for 20 hours straight on our Helpful Holiday stream, knowing that we had just raised over 600 dollars for a worthwhile cause and that my friends and I had built something incredibly worthwhile and important. It cemented in my mind a crystal clear truth: that GamerGiving is the best thing I have ever been a part of, and that 2016 is going to be even better than 2015 was. I love you all.” – Mr. Problems
“I have 3 top moments in 2015.
“I’ll never forget the time Stephen got so spooked on stream that I had to immediately make a gif of it” – Morphy
From the first iteration of the site back in 2014, I honestly never thought we’d be here so quickly. We’ll be entering 2016 as a fully registered and recognised charitable entity. We have the official paperwork saying how grown up we are. We have the opportunity to help people in ways which we never thought possible. And we are excited.
From 24-hour marathon events with ever-so-special guests to our regular weekday streams to more articles being published on our soon-to-be overhauled website, we cannot wait to see what 2016 brings for you, us and the people we’re going to help.
Join us and experience the revolution that this year will bring. If I could make a resolution for 2016, it’s this: GAMERGIVING MEET UP IN VEGAS BABY!
